Pupils needing extra support: Could create a diya using pre-folded paper plates and resources that are pre-cut; should use a printout of the Resource: Paper plate diya to support following instructions.

Pupils working at greater depth:  Could write a list of the different ways Hindu people might celebrate Diwali; could explain the significance of some practices, e.g. the diya as a symbol of good triumphing over evil.
