Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Could use the unit knowledge organiser to source vocabulary; could create calligrams by drawing the outline of the transport chosen then filling the space inside with the repeated written sentence of how they travel to school, e.g. Je vais à l’école en voiture; could repeat this for several different types of transport with words containing accents such as hélicoptère or montgolfière.

Pupils working at greater depth

Could describe their fantasy journey to school, using the conjunction et and to connect their ideas, e.g. je vais à l’école en sous-marin, en avion et en ballon! – I go to school by submarine, by plane, and by hot-air balloon!; could be encouraged to use the negative to create more complex extended sentences, e.g.  je vais à l’école en fusée, hélicoptère et en trottinette, mais je ne vais pas à l’école en bus! – I go to school by space rocket, helicopter and scooter but I don’t go to school by bus!
