Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Can work in guided groups to label the house, and then practise short phrases such as, c’est une cuisine – it’s a kitchen, focusing on accurate pronunciation and recall.

Pupils working at greater depth

Challenge them to extend their sentences to include il y a – there is, and adjectives such as petit – small, and grand – big. To stretch them further, they can ask their partner a question, such as il y a un jardin ? – is  there a garden?
