Positioning images of children, parents and grandparents on a family tree to show who is older and younger.

Activity

Support and challenge

Adults can use the opportunity to discuss and/or support with:

  • Labelling pictures of the characters or providing a pre-made family tree to refer to.
  • Reminding the children why certain family members have a specific place to sit in the tree.
  • Challenging the children to use their phonics skills to label who they have added to their tree (e.g. M-u-m).
  • Providing sound mats so the children can look at letter formation.
