Lesson 3: Writing verse lyrics

Using poetry writing skills to turn suitable words into lyrics and working in groups to sequence and structure lyrics into a verse.

Pupils needing extra support: Ask children what school-related feeling or memory they would like to write about and work with them to write this as a line for a verse.

 

Pupils working at greater depth: Encourage pupils to demonstrate their understanding of poetic structure while writing their verse (see Wrapping up).
