Before starting this unit, you might want to check that the children can recall that:

  • Natural structures are those found in nature.

  • Man-made structures are those made by people.

  • Shapes and structures with wide, flat bases or legs are the most stable.

  • The shape of a structure can affect its strength.

  • A stable structure is one which is firmly fixed and unlikely to change or move.
