Explain that the children will be thinking about what they learnt about ribbing in the last lesson. Display the Presentation: Agree or disagree? and arrange the children in pairs. Read the statement out loud. Ask the pairs to discuss whether they agree with the statement and to explain their reasoning.

Could use the Resource: Knowledge organiser: D&T – Product packaging to help with the use of packaging-related vocabulary when peer reviewing; could be given sentence stems when completing the peer review, such as: ‘The packaging works because…’, ‘I like that the packaging is…’, ‘I think it could be improved by…’.
Pupils working at greater depth
Should suggest ways they could adapt their packaging for different purposes (for example, lengthening the sides of a cuboid to fit taller items or making the squares on the cube larger for wider items); should extend peer review by giving reasons linked to function (for example, commenting on how design choices affect ease of opening, strength or visibility of contents).
