Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support
Should use the Resource: 3D shapes to help them identify and name the 3D shapes found in the packaging they explore; could wear gloves if they are uncomfortable handling used packaging; could be given packaging with pre-cut seams so they can focus on unfolding and recognising nets without the fine-motor challenge of separating tabs and glued areas.
Pupils working at greater depth
Should suggest an alternative packaging shape or material for one of the products and predict how this change would affect protection, storage or sustainability, using vocabulary from the lesson; could compare two or more packaging designs and evaluate which one is most effective for a specific purpose, justifying their choice.
