Pupils needing extra support
Should use the photographs on slides 2-8 of the Presentation: Ordering the method to help complete the sentence strip ordering task; could have the words ‘First’ and ‘Last’ written on a whiteboard to copy onto the first and last sentence strips.
Pupils working at greater depth
Could annotate the sentence strips to include adverbs of manner (eg. gently place five woodlice, neatly draw around it, carefully place it inside the Petri dish); could explain how to use observations to answer the question (e.g. “If there are more woodlice in the damp section, I know they prefer damp conditions.”)
