Pupils needing extra support:

Should use the Activity: La carta: support version (see Main event) which provides the English translations for the food and drink items that can be matched to the Spanish names; could use the Resource: Knowledge organiser: Spanish – In a Spanish café for additional visual support for vocabulary (see Teacher knowledge).

Pupils working at greater depth:

Should include additional food and drink items as well different flavours to the Activity: La carta, looking these words up in the bilingual dictionaries; should identify patterns to enable them to experiment with language and discover variations of the listed vocabulary.
