Autumn: Hibernation boxes

Pupils learn what it means for an animal to hibernate and discover what different species need. They then develop designs for a hedgehog hibernation box.

Christmas: Sliding Santa chimneys

Children explore a simple paper slider mechanism as part of a practical example and then apply it to create their own sliding Santa chimney picture.

Easter: Hanging egg decoration

After listening to the Easter story, and learning about the history of Easter eggs, pupils design and make their own Easter egg hanging decorations.

Spring: Flower threading

Using a range of tools and techniques, pupils create their own flower threading pattern and complete it using coloured wool.

To use a range of tools and techniques to create a threaded spring flower.

Summer: Designing a rainbow salad

Pupils refresh their knowledge of fruits and vegetables and explore what it means to have a healthy balanced diet. They design their own rainbow salad combination.

To design a rainbow salad recipe.

Summer: Making a rainbow salad

After revisiting the health and safety rules, pupils prepare the ingredients to create their rainbow salad. They taste and evaluate their rainbow salad.

To create a rainbow salad and talk about the importance of healthy eating.
