Pupils needing extra support
Could use the Activity: Moons data table (support) to support them in designing a data table for their research. Could use the phases of the Moon diagram in the Knowledge organiser to support them throughout the lesson, in particular it could be reviewed before watching the Pupil video: The Moon and used to help check their answers were correct.
Pupils working at greater depth
Could use a torch and a ball to explain the phases of the Moon by recreating each stage of the cycle on the Activity: Phases of the Moon; could add an extra column to their data table to record the names of the known moons (with a maximum of five names for any one planet).
