As this is the first unit in Key stage 1, there is no knowledge to recap with the children. In EYFS (Reception), pupils learnt to:
Describe their immediate environment using knowledge from observation, discussion, stories, non-fiction texts and maps.
Draw information from a simple map.

In this unit
Dr Michael Leach is a wildlife author with more than 50 books to his name; these have been translated into 26 languages. He has worked on all seven continents, in truly remote places, to live with and study some of the world’s most elusive animals. As geography and zoology are lifelong passions, he feels that his career isn’t so much a job but more a stroke of unbelievably good luck.
