Lesson plan
This lesson and unit build on knowledge and concepts introduced in this lesson:
Wellbeing, Year 1, Discover, Lesson 2: Making mistakes.
Provide each child with a whiteboard and a pen. Ask the children to recall the story 'Beautiful Oops,' by Bernie Saltzberg. Alternatively, play the video using the link Beautiful Oops by Barney Saltzberg on VideoLink.*
In pairs, the children discuss what happened in the story.
Prompt the children to recall a time that they made a mistake and responded with a positive attitude, by writing or drawing it on their whiteboard. Encourage the children to write down one thing they can do when they make a mistake and share this advice with the class. (Examples may include: I can ask for help; try to turn my mistake into something that is different or even better).
