1. Recap and recall

Before starting this unit, you might want to check that the children can recall:

  • The value of different coins up to and including £2.00.

  • The difference between coins and banknotes, with a focus on banknotes being worth more money.

  • How children get money, for example, through pocket money or presents.

  • Basic ways that they can keep coins and notes safe in and out of their home environment.

  • Who the children could ask to seek assistance with concerns or worries about money, for example, trusted adults, teachers, parents/carers.
