Lesson plan
1. Recap and recall
Before starting this unit, you may want to check that children can recall:
- Modes of transport and the names of some countries in French (see French, Year 3, French transport).
- The seasons in French (see French, Year 4, French numbers, calendars and birthdays).
- Items of clothing in French (see French, Year 4, Clothes - getting dressed in France).
- The verb aller formed in the present tense.
Optional: provide each child with a copy of the Knowledge catcher (see link: Assessment – French Y5: French-speaking world) and ask them to complete it to the best of their ability. Explain that at the end of the unit, they will revisit it, adding more information in a different colour.
