Lesson plan
Combine one set of the Resource: Invertebrate cards and the Resource: Vertebrate cards from Lesson 1: Vertebrates and invertebrates and place them facedown on a table, obscuring the images.
Split the class into two equal teams and choose one team to start the first round. For each round:
Invite one member from the playing team to select a card from the pile.
Allow the member to either draw and label the animal on a flipchart or act out the animal's characteristics, ensuring not to give away the animal's name.
Ask the playing team to guess the animal's identity and specify its category: vertebrate or invertebrate.
Award a point to the team if they correctly identify and classify the animal.
Alternate turns between the two teams, repeating steps 1–5.
