1. Recap and recall
Before starting this unit, check that the children can recall:
- A range of adjectives to describe people, places and things: Spanish, Year 4, Pets in Spanish and Spanish, Year 5, A trip across Spain.
- Phrases for giving opinions: En mi opinion - in my opinion.
A range of reading strategies, including identifying cognates, use of context, knowledge of root words and knowledge of grammar.
- Who the Ancient Maya were and where and when they lived: Spanish, Year 5, Sports in Spanish, Lesson 3: The Maya ball game and History, Upper key stage 2, How did the Maya civilisation compare to the Anglo-Saxons?, Lesson 1: Who were the Maya and where did they live?
