Lesson plan
Instruct the children to play the memory game, Je vais au marché et j’achète…(I’m going to market and I’m buying…) in their table groups. Unlike previous times the children have played, this time they must add a number for the items, for example:
Je vais au marché et j’achète une pomme - I'm going to market and I'm buying one apple
Je vais au marché et j’achète une pomme et deux citrons - I'm going to market and I'm buying one apple and two lemons
Je vais au marché et j’achète une pomme, deux citrons et trois bananes - I'm going to market and I'm buying one apple, two lemons and three bananas
Circulate round the classroom to assess how the children are doing.
After a few minutes, ask the children which table group has the longest string and see if they can recite it for the class. Ask the class to translate into English.
