Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Could browse the Resource: Chimpanzee images with an adult before the lesson to discuss their observations (e.g. noticing that the chimpanzee looks angry or that it is cuddling its baby); could record their observations by drawing on whiteboards instead of completing the Activity: Observing chimpanzees for task one; should be given a picture of their chosen animal and a human to refer to when completing the Knowledge catcher: Science – Comparing animals.

Pupils working at greater depth

Could take on the role of Jane Goodall and write a report describing their observations from task one (e.g. I named the chimpanzees to help identify them, I discovered that they show emotions, I saw them use tools to get food or I saw a mother cuddling its baby).
