Support and challenge

Adults can use the opportunity to: 

  • Observe and support the children as they explore.
  • Find appropriate opportunities to extend learning, introduce new ideas or model how to do something.  
  • Listen to storytelling and extend language/depth of learning when appropriate.  
  • Model the use of new vocabulary.
  • Encourage the children to play, explore, problem solve and articulate their ideas.

Vocabulary

  • natural object names (e.g. acorn, leaf, twig, feather, etc.)

  • senses words (e.g. look, feel, soft, hard, sour, sweet, loud, gentle, etc.)
