1. Recap and recall

This activity revisits learning from Lesson 4: Abstract studies to help the children recall key knowledge.

Explain that artists often review and reflect on studies (artwork created to explore ideas, practise techniques or plan a larger final piece) before beginning a final piece.

Ask the children to open their sketchbooks to the studies they created in the previous lesson. Allow them time to revisit their studies and discuss which ideas, colours, textures and techniques (methods artists use to create effects in their work) they would like to develop in their final piece.
