Where do some people talk to God?
Unit outcomes
Pupils who are secure will be able to:
- Describe what a place of worship is.
- Recognise different places of worship.
- Give at least two reasons why some people go to places of worship.
- Give some reasons why people may choose to go to a mosque.
- Name some features of the mosque that help people pray.
- Describe how some churches are different from others.
- Name one similarity and one difference between churches and mosques.
- Explain how one feature of the gurdwara shows that sharing and fairness are important to many Sikhs.
- Identify how two places of worship are similar or different.
- Design a place of worship that includes appropriate features.
These lessons explore and compare places of worship within the Muslim, Christian and Sikh worldviews. You may wish to visit a local place of worship to support the children’s learning. It is important to risk-assess the visit taking into account any relevant school risk assessment policies and procedures.
