1. Recap and recall

Before starting this unit, you might want to check the children can recall:

  • How historians know about Britain’s involvement in the World Wars.

  • Why people migrated to Britain throughout history.

  • What life was like for people in Britain after World War 1.

  • The meaning of the terms bias, reliable and propaganda.

Optional: provide each child with a copy of the Skills catcher (see link: Assessment – History Y6: What was the impact of World War 2 on the people of Britain?) and ask them to complete it to the best of their ability. Explain that at the end of the unit, they will revisit it, adding more information in a different colour.
