• Could adapt a modelled example to add simple detail by copying a demonstrated technique before making their own choices.
• Could use sticky notes to mark areas they feel successful in or wish to improve to support reflection by identifying specific parts of their artwork.

Pupils working at greater depth:

• Should identify specific details in Bearden’s artwork and explain their purpose or effect.
• Should make thoughtful choices of materials and tools to enhance detail in their own collage.
• Should reflect on improvements made to their artwork and explain why these changes strengthened the final piece.
• Could experiment with combining techniques, such as paint and outline, to create contrast or emphasis.
