1. Recap and recall

Display the Presentation: What melody? and ask the children to write down as much as they can about the type of melody they might hear in the canopy and emergent layers. Use the Audio: Rainforest sounds if they need a prompt.

Laura Barr Music specialist

In her 14 year teaching career, Laura assumed the role of Music Lead, and was Head of Music in a large secondary school. Laura has a passion for working with children with a disadvantaged background, either through deprivation or disability, and now works full-time as Head of the Dyslexia Resource Base at a secondary school in the New Forest. When she isn’t busy with work Laura loves to spend time with her three sons; a nine year old and four year old twins; walking, swimming and generally anything else that tires them out!

 

Laura has created music topics that engage with cross curricular themes from classical music that represent animals, to a topic that introduces Key Stage 2 pupils to South and West African music.
