Display slide 1 of the Presentation: How many verbs can you spot? Ask the children to work in pairs to write down all the verbs.
When the children have had a few minutes, ask the class how many verbs they found. Go through the paragraph, asking individual children to identify verbs in each sentence. Slide 2 shows all the verbs highlighted. There are 20 altogether.
Ask for a volunteer to give a definition of a verb (a 'doing' word or an 'action' word; a verb is also a 'being' word.
If you have time, you could ask the children to recall four French verbs that they have come across. Examples might include:
habiter - to live.
jouer - to play.
manger - to eat
porter - to wear
aimer - to like
avoir - to have
être - to be
