Lesson plan
Display slide 1 of the Presentation: Sentence builder and organise the children into pairs.
Explain that in their pairs, the children need to create a two-part sentence using the words provided on the slide and recalling the place names in a town and why they might like to visit that place. Each part of the sentence should be joined with et - and, or mais - but.
If you need to, you could model a sentence:
J'aime visiter le musée parce que c'est intéressant, mais je préfère visiter la piscine parce que c'est amusant.
I like to visit the museum because it is interesting, but I prefer to visit to the swimming pool because it is fun.
If you feel the children are struggling to recall words, you could use slide 2, which has the words added.
When the children have had time to create their sentence, ask them to join with another pair and between them translate their two sentences.
While the children are working, circulate to assess and help as needed.
Invite groups of four to read out their two sentences and see if the rest of the class can translate.
