1. Recap and recall

Arrange the class into pairs and provide each pair with a whiteboard and pen. Display slide 1 of the Presentation: Rock identification and ask the pairs to use their results table from the Activity: Rock comparison (from Lesson 1: Rocks: Appearance) to identify the rock from the description and picture provided. Explain that they should record the name of the rock on their whiteboard.
