Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support:

  • Could work with two or three colours to focus on cleaning brushes between colour changes.
  • Could describe each step aloud as they paint (clean, dab, paint) to help remember the routine.
  • Could paint on larger areas to develop brush control and even coverage.

Pupils working at greater depth:

  • Should explain how adding different amounts of water changes paint control and why this is useful for different effects.
  • Should choose when to use watery or thicker paint to achieve different effects and explain their choices.
  • Could create a simple labelled guide to teach someone else how to keep colours bright.
