Lesson 1: How did the Christian Bible come to be?

Provide each child with a whiteboard and pen and ask them to draw a three-by-three grid on their whiteboard. Display the Presentation: Keyword bingo! and explain that they must write one of the keywords in each square, in any order.

Explain that you will read out definitions for each word and the children should cross out the word on their board when they hear its definition. Once a child has crossed out all their words, they should shout 'bingo!'.

• The accounts of Jesus' life and words found in the first four books of the New Testament – Gospels.
• A prediction about the future, often found in religious texts – prophecy.
• When something is shown or made known that was previously hidden or secret – revealed.
• The effect that a person, event or situation has on someone or something – impact.
• Part of the Christian Bible that includes stories about the early history of the Jewish people and their beliefs – Old Testament.
• Knowledge that comes from experience and good judgment – wisdom.
