Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support:
- Could use larger, chunkier brushes to support control when mixing colours.
- Could use the Knowledge organiser to support identifying and labelling colours.
- Could use prepared colour labels to match and stick next to their colour mixtures.
Pupils working at greater depth:
- Should switch between different tools to explore a range of ways to mix colours and compare the effects.
- Should express opinions about the colours they create and explain their preferences (for example, ‘When I mixed red and blue together, I could see I had made this deep purple’).
- Should explain the meaning of the term primary colour using their own words (for example, a primary colour is a colour that cannot be made by mixing other colours together. The three primary colours are red, yellow and blue).
- Could annotate their experiments by recording which colours were mixed together.
