Pupils needing extra support:

• Could be provided with pre-selected textures which are easy to produce rubbings from.
• Could use thicker crayons or crayon blocks to improve control when making rubbings by using the side of the crayon with steadier pressure.
• Could use the audio word bank to describe textures accurately by listening to and repeating key vocabulary.

Pupils working at greater depth:

• Should independently seek out a wider range of contrasting textures during the texture hunt.
• Should make deliberate choices about pressure and movement to improve the clarity of their rubbings.
• Should describe textures using precise and comparative vocabulary, explaining similarities and differences between surfaces.
• Could experiment with layering colours or rotating the paper to vary line direction.
