Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Could work in pairs to develop a Doodler configuration; could build the circuit on the table before fitting it to the Doodler; should be provided with clues to help them put their Doodler together.

Pupils working at greater depth

Should include detailed annotations on their final Doodler design sketch to explain their decisions (e.g., I chose to include five markers to improve the stability of my Doodler and increase the number of colours it uses); should include a switch as part of their design (see Design & Technology, Year 4, Torches: Lesson 1: Electrical products); could be used as a ‘class technician’ to support their peers’ if they finish ahead of time.
