Before starting this unit, you might want to check that children can recall:

  • The definition of 'strong' (does not break easily), 'stable' (firmly fixed and not likely to move or change) and 'stiff' (does not bend easily).

  • How to identify the weakest part of a structure (the corners).

  • The importance of strength and stiffness in structures.

  • A design specification is a list of success criteria for a product.
