Differentiation

Pupils needing extra support: Some children may need help to make the puppet. Encourage them to say the key words in the rhyme such as “bonjour” (hello) and “je m’appelle” (my name is).

Pupils working at extra depth: Some children will be able to recite the whole rhyme independently with accurate pronunciation.

Wrapping up

During the week

  • Call the register asking each child what their name is and how they are, and getting them to answer with, Je m’appelle … and ça va mal,  ça va très mal, ça va très bien, or ça va comme ci comme ça.
  • Turn the rhyme into a song (the tune of ‘Ten Green Bottles’ works well).
