- To understand a range of emotions
Pupils should know:
- That there is a normal range of emotions (e.g. happiness, sadness, anger, fear, surprise, nervousness) and scale of emotions that all humans experience in relation to different experiences and situations.
- How to judge whether what they are feeling and how they are behaving is appropriate and proportionate.
Pupils needing extra support: Should use the Activity: Sam’s diary – detailed version for the activity.
Pupils working at greater depth: Ask children to ensure that Sam does experience Beneficial or good. and Emotions that make us feel sad or angry. and to give valid reasons for this. Challenge them to suggest ways in which Sam could deal with the Something bad or undesirable. The range of feelings that someone can have, such as happiness or anger…. when he does experience them.
