Pupils needing extra support:

Could use straws bent into the correct shape in advance; could try attaching the modelling dough in only two places on the structure rather than four.

Pupils working at greater depth:

Should explain that an extra weight placed high up on a structure makes it less stable while an extra weight placed lower down makes it more stable when justifying their order of the images on slide 3 of the Presentation: Basketball hoops; should experiment with the amount of extra weight and how it affects the amount of extra stability or instability of the structure.
