Lesson 5: Tone 2: 3D Colour drawings

Concentrating on showing light and dark areas last lesson, children turn their attention to the planets of the solar system and use colourful pastels and chalks to depict the tone within them

Learning objective

  • I can create a 3D drawing  in colour

Pupils should be taught:

  • To use drawing, painting and sculpture to develop and share their ideas, experiences and imagination
  • To develop a wide range of art and design techniques in using line, shape, form and space
  • Be taught about the work of a range of artists, craft makers and designers, describing the differences and similarities between different practices and disciplines, and making links to their own work

Differentiation

Pupils needing extra support: Differentiate by giving out planet images according to ability – simpler planets with fewer tones should be given to those needing extra support, e.g. Mars, Uranus, Neptune.

 

Pupils working at greater depth: Will be able to respond to more complex images, e.g. Venus, Earth, Jupiter, Pluto.
