Children learn French numbers 1-31, the days of the week, months of the year, dates and seasons through maths and songs, as well as class surveys and research of French festivals before celebrating with a traditional French birthday celebration in the classroom

Using their recently learnt vocabulary for the months of the year and numbers one to 31, pupils carry out a class survey to find out the dates of their peers' birthdays and translate written dates from English to French
ViewLesson 5: Celebrating a French birthday
After receiving an invitation to a class birthday party, children learn about the similarities and differences between traditional birthday celebrations in France and England and conclude the topic by singing Joyeux Anniversaire (Happy Birthday) and eating le gâteau (cake)
