Drawing: A Walking Line

Based on Paul Klee's belief that “a drawing is simply a line going for a walk”, children take a black and white photocopy of a textured material centred on an A3 page and using a pencil, extend the drawing outwards, drawing in any tones they see

  • Knowing that using words to describe an object help my visual literacy skills in being able to draw the object

  • Using fine control with a pencil to make a detailed and analytical observational drawing

  • Adding tonal graduation using a 2B pencil

  • Using a HB pencil to extend the drawing so that the lines are a continuation of the lines that are already ther
