Key Stage 2 Whole-class instrumental lessons

Whole-class instrumental scheme of 30 lesson plans and accompanying teacher videos for KS2.

About the lessons

In line with the DfE’s 2020 Model Music Curriculum guidance, Kapow Primary’s KS2 whole-class instrumental scheme is a progressive collection of 30 lessons and accompanying teacher videos.

Each unit of lessons focusses on music from a different part of the world and features a bespoke piece of music composed specifically for the scheme and includes sheet music, performance and backing tracks.

The lessons are written for tuned percussion instruments because: they are accessible for non-specialists to teach; are effective for learning pitch notation because the note names are written on the bars and are already available in many schools.
