How fast does liquid flow?

This Science scheme of work video introduces teachers to the skills needed to help Key Stage 2 pupils carry out a comparative test investigating how viscosity affects the speed at which liquids flow. Pupils apply knowledge from across the year, including states of matter, sound, digestion, classification, and electricity, while revisiting the full enquiry cycle. The video demonstrates how to support pupils in posing testable questions, planning fair tests, collecting and analysing data, and representing their findings using bar charts.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Science Making connections resources. It simplifies the process, ensuring teachers feel confident and prepared to support pupils in making meaningful connections between scientific concepts and enquiry skills. With opportunities to link real-world applications—like medicine development and pharmacology, the unit helps pupils understand how scientific investigation is relevant beyond the classroom in lessons like the ones below.
