Air, water, food

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Science scheme of work. It is designed for pupils and explores how animals meet their basic needs to survive in different environments. Pupils will learn that all animals, including humans, need air, water, and food to live, but how they get these essentials can vary widely. The video explains how birds, fish, and insects breathe in different ways, from lungs to gills to tiny holes. It shows how animals like elephants, frogs, and camels find or store water, even in extreme places like deserts. Pupils will also discover how animals get food, whether by grazing like giraffes, hunting like big cats and penguins, or filtering water like flamingos. The video highlights the diversity of life in the animal kingdom and how each species has adapted to survive.
The video is designed to be shown to pupils as part of Science, Key stage 1, Year 2, Animals, including humans: Life cycles and health, Lesson 4: Survival
