Lesson 3: Meaning and purpose: What can I be?

By pondering the different meanings of the question ‘What do I want to be when I grow up?’, focus on what is important to make this possible.

Learning objective

  • To identify long term goals and how to work towards them

National curriculum

All schools should make provision for personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE), drawing on good practice.

The PSHE Association Programme of Study recommends pupils are taught:

  • H28. to identify personal strengths, skills, achievements and interests and how these contribute to a sense of self-worth
  • L30. about some of the skills that will help them in their future careers e.g. teamwork, communication and negotiation
