Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support:

Should use the Resource: Knowledge organiser: French-speaking world (see Print in advance) to support describing flags and locating countries; could focus on French-speaking countries in a single continent; could use the Presentation: Where in the world is French spoken? to confirm the countries’ location.

Pupils working at greater depth:

Should be challenged to create their own clues for Belgium, Vietnam and Egypt and present their clues to the rest of the class; could locate and describe additional French-speaking countries (e.g. Monaco, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Haiti) on their maps; could consider and research why French is spoken in the countries marked on their maps.
