Lesson 4: Self-portraits (Original scheme)

By looking at the many different examples of self-portraits over time, children use photography to create their own.

Learning objectives

  • To develop a self portrait from a photograph and translate it into a drawing

National curriculum

Pupils should be taught to:

  • Become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
  • Evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
  • To improve their mastery of art and design techniques

Pupils needing extra support: May want to draw the photo with the silly expression as it requires less accuracy so will be easier.

 

Pupils working at greater depth: Should greater attention to detail and add extra levels of details in their self-portraits.
