Lesson 4: Multimedia superheroes part 2

Building on the previous lesson, in groups, children work a colour wash into their piece and using their fingers, apply a dot matrix effect, similar to that in Lichtenstein's ‘Explosion’

Before the lesson

Learning objective

  • To work together to create a large scale artwork

National curriculum

Pupils should be taught to:

  • To develop a wide range of art and design techniques in using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space
  • Be taught about the work of a range of artists, craft makers and designers, describing the differences and similarities between different practices and disciplines, and making links to their own work

Differentiation

Pupils needing extra support: Make small amounts of paint for the wash stage to avoid the card getting too wet too quickly. Children should discuss where they apply the paint or add the dot matrix effect.

Pupils working at greater depth: Talk about the colours created as a result of the wash and use a varied vocabulary to describe the colours.
