Interconnected religious worldviews
This Religion and worldviews video supports teachers in exploring the connections between different religious worldviews. It outlines how this lesson develops children’s understanding of interconnectivity using historical and geographical context. Children will revisit key figures, festivals, and creation stories from worldviews such as Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, and Zoroastrian. Through guided discussion and statement analysis, pupils will identify shared themes—like belief in one God, shared prophets, or similar festivals—and will begin to understand how religious ideas have developed over time and across regions.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Religion and worldviews scheme – connections. It helps teachers draw out substantive and disciplinary knowledge, supporting children to recognise patterns and make informed connections across worldviews. The practical group activity with string or rope makes abstract links visible and engaging. The video also reminds teachers to highlight positionality—encouraging pupils to consider their own perspectives—while addressing common misconceptions, such as assumptions about exclusivity or certainty in historical influence. Teachers are supported to foster respectful discussion and critical thinking as pupils encounter shared and unique elements across worldviews.
