Caring for the world together

This Religion and worldviews video supports teachers in delivering a unit that explores the big questions: How and why are we here? and How do worldviews affect our daily lives? Children investigate a range of beliefs from Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindu and humanist worldviews, focusing on why we should care for the world. They examine key concepts such as stewardship, ahimsa, and humanity, and consider both religious and non-religious motivations for protecting the environment. The video highlights teachings from creation stories, quotes, and religious figures including Muhammad, encouraging children to explore different reasons for environmental care, from belief in divine creation to human responsibility.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Religion and worldviews resources – care. It prepares teachers to address common misconceptions, such as the idea that worldviews always share the same beliefs or that ahimsa only refers to physical harm. It promotes respectful discussion, supports children in developing personal knowledge, and suggests ways to include voices from the local community. Teachers are guided to create inclusive and engaging lessons that encourage empathy, critical thinking and responsibility, while ensuring that all beliefs — including those without a concept of God — are presented fairly and clearly.
